Andy Collopy is a freelance theatre musician and coach. He has been music directing professionally since the age of fifteen, and in that time has MDed well over twenty productions. Most notable of these are Coram Boy and Hello Again with the Ithaca College Department of Theatre Arts, Hedwig and the Angry Inch with Interrobang Theatre Company, and Schoolhouse Rock Live at the Hangar Theatre. He has also worked as an associate conductor at the College Light Opera Company, where he conducted performances of, among other shows, Man of La Mancha and Kiss Me, Kate.
As a pianist, Andy has played at such theatres as the Hangar Theatre, Cortland Repertory Theatre, the Rochester Broadway Theatre League, and the Ithaca College Department of Theatre Arts. He was a sought after accompanist during his time at Ithaca, where he accompanied the Ithaca College Chorus and auditions for both the School of Music and the Department of Theatre Arts. As an accordion player, Andy has played in the pits of a number of shows, including Chicago and The Vagabond King.
Andy graduated cum laude from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano and Theatre. While at Ithaca, he performed in the award winning a cappella group Ithacappella, with whom he sang at such venues as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall and was seen on American Idol and The Price is Right. Andy is also active as a singer/songwriter and holds a third-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
